Need
The needs of the dominos.com.tr application running on Azure App Service included migration to a modern cloud architecture, packaging its dependencies with the application independently from the environment, quick and automatic scaling up during peak hours, and managing multiple modules and applications from a single point.
Solution
As part of the Azure Application Modernization project, KoçSistem and Microsoft ensured that applications running on App Services were refactored to Azure Kubernetes Services environment without interruption. Application load running on App Services was gradually migrated to AKS. The two systems had to use the same database and cache structures to maintain the consistency of their data while routing application traffic to the new infrastructure. To do this, global peering was configured between the two infrastructures. Prometheus, Grafana and Alert Manager were installed to monitor systems and applications in the Azure environment. In addition, the installation and configurations for the New Relic product were completed.
Benefit and Result
- Dominos.com.tr application running on App Services was migrated on AKS through an uninterrupted migration process.
- Azure costs were reduced as the applications started to run on the AKS infrastructure.
- All application modules and additional applications can be managed from a single point via Azure Kubernetes Service.
- Applications were enabled to run uninterruptedly even under extreme load, with application-based and node-based scaling rules.
- Applications started to run with container infrastructure in line with modern cloud architecture.
